El padre de George tiene un serio problema de corazón que requiere cirugía. George elige a Burk para hacer el procedimiento. Burke duda de sí mismo por los problemas que tiene todavía con su mano pero Cristina confía en el equipo. El problema viene cuando George, que sospecha, se niega a que Cristina participe en la operación.
Después de su primer y fracasado intento, Meredith y Derek intentan ser de nuevo una pareja. Además, este intentará tener una relación correcta con Addison. Alex e Izzie llevan el caso de un paciente que se somete a diversas operaciones de cirugía para impresionar a sus parejas.
